"Red, White and Boom" Independence Day Celebration in Oakland will start with a Fireman Water Fight at 7pm July 3rd.   On Sat. July 4th will include at Firemen Breakfast at the Fire house at 7 am, Flea Market, Softball Tournament, Inflatables Slides, Car Show, Parade at 5 pm, Bingo and Fireworks.

New Market will start their annual 4th of July celebration on Friday, July 3rd with a pie baking contest in the city park and Pitch & Cribbage Tournaments at the Community Center at 1pm followed by Potluck in the Park at 6pm.  On Sat., July 4 Breakfast will be served at the Community Center & races will start at 7:30am.  Some of the events during the day are ATV barrel racing, Kids Peddle Pull and water fight, parade will start at 1pm.  The Thunderbirds will play from 7 to 9pm and fireworks will begin at 9:50pm.

The Shenandoah Annual 4th of July Baby Contest, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary will be on July 4th at the Shenandoah Old Armory.  Ages are Birth to 2 years old.  Registration will be between 8 and 8:30 am .  Judging will begin at 8:30 am.

Optimist Club of Maryville willl sponsor their annual Fishing Contest at the City Boat Ramp Shelter on Saturday, July 4 beginning at 9:15am with registration at 9.  Anyone between ages 1 & 15 may participate and must bring their own fishing gear.  This event is free.
