(Glenwood) -- The Izaak Walton League named a Glenwood teacher the Iowa Teacher of the Year at ceremonies this past weekend at the group's state convention.
This past Saturday, Stan Winquist was awarded the Iowa Division of the Izaak Walton League -- 2014 Teacher of the Year. Winquist is a 35 year teaching verteran and he has taught his entire career in the Glenwood School District. He was the Ag Ed and FFA advisor for his first 18 years and now teaches Principles of Technology and Career Transitions for the past 17 years.
He was a varsity assistant football coach for 7 years, 6 on 6 assistant girl's basketball coach for 12 years and a volunteer boys basketball coach for 7 years.
Earlier this past March, he was named the Glenwood Chamber of Commerce 2014 Educator of the Year.
Winquist received his Bachelor's degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1979 and is a 1974 graduate of Schleswig High School.
