(Atlantic) -- An informational meeting for area farmers will be held in Cass County next month.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will bring its "Crop Advantage Series" to Atlantic on January 24th. Melissa O'Rourke with ISU Extension tells KMA News the event provides research-based crop production information to help farmers make smart, informed decisions in their operations.

"While that's put on by our agronomists, there are going to be farm management sessions there," O'Rourke said. "They will talk about interest rate hikes and trade disputes on land values. We'll have our economist Chad Hart there. He'll talk about the market for 2019, and strategies for dealing with stress."

O'Rourke says the event runs from 8:55 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cass County Community Building, located at 805 West 10th Street in Atlantic. Registration check-in is 8:30 a.m. with a fee of $60. Early registration can be done online at cropadvantage.org by January 17th for a $50 fee. The program will feature 10 speakers on a variety of farm and agriculture related topics.

A similar event will be held in Denison on January 30th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boulders Conference Center, located at 2507 Boulders Drive. Contact field agronomist Mike Witt for more information at (641) 747-2276.
