(Carson) -- Iowa Department of Natural Resources officials are investigating a manure runoff from a Carson business.
DNR officials say they were notified about a potential discharge from Cyclone Cattle Open Cattle Feedlot around 6 p.m. Monday. The owner told authorities he was land applying manure-laden water from an on-site feedlot onto an adjacent property.
During the land application, the manure-laden water flowed through a grassed waterway into an unnamed tributary of the West Nishnabotna River.
No fish kill was observed by DNR officials and water samples were collected for analysis. The DNR says the cause of the runoff is believed to be from a mechanical issue, but the official cause is still under investigation. The DNR says appropriate enforcement will be considered.
