(Shenandoah) -- Shenandoah native Monte Shaw officially throws his hat into the ring to run for Iowa's 3rd Congressional District Monday.

Events begin with a kickoff rally in Shenandoah on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the May Center at Shenandoah High School, followed by formal announcements in Des Moines, Council Bluffs and Panora on Tuesday. Tuesday's events are at 1:00 p.m. at Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy in Council Bluffs, and at the Panora Comunity Center at 6:30 p.m.

Shaw, Executive Director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, has been a life-long advocate on behalf of Republican candidates and conservative causes. He has lived in the 3rd District nearly his entire life. He grew up on a farm in Shenandoah, graduated from Simpson College in Indianola and has lived in Guthrie County. Shaw currently resides in West Des Moines with his wife, Tina, and their two young children.
