(Clarinda) -- A local non-profit is seeking donations of diapers for area families in need.
Southwest Iowa Families is holding its fourth annual diaper drive through November 30th for families in the southwest corner of the state. Erica Hash is a program manager for the NEST and Positive Families programs at Southwest Iowa Families. She says diapers can be dropped off at several locations in the area.
"In Clarinda, we have K&K Graphics, Shopko, River Market 190, Wildfire Salon and Elizabeth Moore Farm Bureau Financial Services," said Hash. "In Sidney, we have Penn Drug. In Shenandoah, we have Micky G's, Lloyd Inc. and Shenandoah Medical Center."
Hash says the group is looking for all different types and sizes of diapers.
"In general, we would accept any sizes, but it seems like the most popular size people need is size four," said Hash. "We will take any brand. Our NEST program does use Luvs Diapers, but we are appreciative of any donation."
Hash says the donations will be collected and stored at Southwest Iowa Families offices in Clarinda and will be distributed to families in their NEST program or others who are seeking assistance.
"We have our NEST program where parents get points for going to doctor's appointments and doing healthy activities," said Hash. "With their points, they can get items like diapers. We also have individuals who come into our office who aren't even served here that need diapers. They don't have any diapers for their babies, so we really like to help them."
