(KMAland) -- Tuesday's Hall of Fame announcement came in the sport of soccer, but it could have just as easily been track and field or even cross country.
St. Albert multi-sport star Abby Schlater - a five-time state track champion - was one of the most prolific goal-scorers in the state during her four-year career with the Saintes.
"High school soccer was one of the main staples in my life," Schlater said on Tuesday's Upon Further Review. "Very good memories and a coaching staff that played a key component in that. They made the team proud to be a part of."
Schlater, who originally ran track and cross country at Missouri State out of high school, would go on to a terrific college career at the College of Saint Mary's. Her favorite memory from her dominant high school career came from St. Albert's 2009 state tournament trip.
"That was a very amazing thing to be a part of," Schlater said, "and the team was amazing to be a part of as well."
The trip to state, which resulted in a tough 9-4 loss to Bishop Heelan, was a great culmination of a life spent playing soccer.
"From as long as I can remember I played soccer," Schlater said. "When we weren't playing at St. Albert, we were playing for the 'Storm.' It's been a part of my everyday since I can remember."
Schlater has recently moved back into the track realm. The two-time 3000 and one-time 1500 state champion recently worked as a receptionist and trained at the Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney, Texas.
"I'm focusing on the 800 and mile," Schlater said. "Seeing where my running career can go, and if it goes anywhere. If it doesn't, the journey has been great."
Schlater will be inducted into the KMA Sports Hall of Fame at a later date to be determined. Listen to the full interview with Schlater here.
A KMA Sports Hall of Fame announcement will be made on Upon Further Review at 11:50 AM each weekday until August 28th.
