(KMAland) -- The KMA Sports Hall of Fame is back for a second year.
One year after introducing our first 22 inductees, KMA Sports started the announcements for the 2017-18 class on Monday morning.
The first announcement, which was heard on KMA's Upon Further Review at 11:50, is Glenwood's Taylor Kaufman.
The former Rams standout led Glenwood to their first and only state baseball championship in 2010, posting a 12-0 mark with 126 strikeouts and a 0.90 ERA in 70 innings pitched.
Kaufman would go on to add another 113 strikeouts and a 0.76 ERA in 55 1/3 innings his senior season. He also posted a 0.31 ERA and a 0.29 mark during his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
While the numbers are eye-opening, Kaufman says he will never forget the feeling of pitching his team to a state championship win.
"I can go back right now," he said, "and I can picture everything. The smell in the air. Just that feeling of being in that situation is very special. You don't forget something like that."
Kaufman, who would go on to play for the University of Iowa, remembers his Glenwood years fondly.
"It was a great school to play for," he said. "I had a lot of opportunities at a very young age. I am very grateful for every chance I was given. The coaching staff got me out there and got me some repetitions. What a great school and opportunity."
The 6-foot-2 left-hander was a four-time All-Conference, a three-time All-District and a three-time All-State honoree during his career at Glenwood. While he was known most for his pitching, he set 21 offensive records and 12 pitching bests in school history.
The son of Curt and Lisa Kaufman is a human physiology graduate from Iowa and currently at Kirkwood working towards his respiratory therapy degree.
Kaufman will be inducted into the KMA Sports Hall of Fame at a later date to be determined. The full schedule of announcements is listed below. Each announcement can be heard live on UFR at 11:50 AM each weekday.
