Tom Dovel

(Denison) -- The KMA Sports Hall of Fame welcomed another member on Thursday as Red Oak's Tom Dovel was officially inducted at the Hawkeye Ten Conference Track meet.

Dovel won four state titles in his career at Red Oak, including three in the 440 yard dash in 1972, 1973 and 1974. He also won the 220 yard dash title in 1972.

Dovel, whose name is still all over the Red Oak track record board, went on to run at Nebraska, where he earned Indoor All-American honors and helped in a Big Eight championship in the 4x400 meter relay.
