Tri-Center baseball, KMA Sports Hall of Fame

(Neola) -- The 1987 Tri-Center baseball team was officially inducted into the KMA Sports Hall of Fame on Friday evening during the Tri-Center basketball doubleheader.

The 1987 team was coached by Gaylord Schelling and won the Class 2A state championship, a year after falling in the final.

Schelling was joined by six players from his championship team at the induction on Friday: Matt Brooke, Travis Justice, Scott McPhillips, Corey Newline, Tom Nelson and Tim O'Neill.

KMA Sports was on hand for the induction and also took some time to talk with Schelling and with Brooke, who served in the military after graduation and now lives in Clinton, Iowa.
