(Kansas City) -- MIAA football is shrinking again, to 12 teams.

The MIAA and Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced on Wednesday that the two conferences have entered into a Strategic Conference Football Scheduling Alliance, which enables MIAA members Lincoln and Southwest Baptist to join the GLVC in football only.

The four-year agreement will begin in 2014 and give both schools associate member status in the GLVC while remaining full MIAA members in all other sports.

Former MIAA members Truman State and Missouri S&T both are members of the GLVC.

The MIAA is expected to announce its 2014 schedule later this week.  The released indicates that the MIAA will play a true round-robin, which would mean no non-conference games.

The full joint release from the MIAA and GLVC is available here.
