(KMAland) -- The Dominican Summer League teams were the only teams keeping the Royals affiliate from an 0-fer on Wednesday.
Omaha/Triple A (32-34): Sacramento scored five runs between the seventh and eighth innings in a 5-4 win over Omaha on Wednesday. Brett Phillips stayed hot with his eighth home run of the year, driving in two in the second inning. Bubba Starling and Jecksson Flores had two hits apiece. Jake Newberry (1-1) took the loss after Kyle Zimmer (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K) and Jake Kalish (5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 5 K) combined for seven strong frames.
Northwest Arkansas/Double A (29-35): Northwest Arkansas dropped a 4-1 battle with Amarillo on Wednesday. Travis Jones and Anderson Miller had two hits each for the Naturals while J.C. Cloney (2-2) took the loss after allowing four runs (one earned) in 4 2/3 innings.
Wilmington/High A (41-24): Wilmington dropped an 8-4 decision to Lynchburg. The Blue Rocks had 10 hits, including multi-hit games for Dennicher Carrasco, Cristian Perez, Colby Schultz and Sebastian Rivero. Kris Bubic (0-1) took the loss with five runs allowed on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked two.
Lexington/Low A (33-32): The Lexington offense managed just four hits in a 3-0 loss to August on Wednesday. All four hits were singles by Michael Gigliotti, Kyle Kasser, Eric Cole and Rubendy Jaquez. Evan Steele (1-2) gave up just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three in five innings to take the loss.
DSL Royals1 (4-6): The Royals beat the Braves DSL squad 5-3 on Wednesday. Francis Grullon hit a two-run home run, and Junior Calderon added a double among two hits and scored a run. Javier Vasquez (1-0) tossed two shutout innings for the win while Austin Morales worked the final two frames for his second save.
DSL Royals2 (4-6): The Royals won a wild 12-11 walk-off battle in 11 innings with DSL Colorado. Jean Carvajal drove in the winning run, but Rodrigo Rodriguez, Guillermo Quintana and Deivy Pena had huge offensive games. Quintana had three hits and three runs, Rodriguez added four hits and four RBI and Pena had two hits, three RBI and four walks. Kelvin De Los Santos (2-1) was the winning pitcher with three innings of two-run, five-hit ball.
