(Dekalb County, Missouri) -- The name of the person killed by law enforcement Sunday morning in rural Dekalb County has been released.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the suspect as 53-year-old Lionel Kerns of Stewartsville, Missouri.  The investigation into the shooting death of Kerns is still underway.

(Dekalb County) -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Dekalb County Sheriff's Department responded to a domestic disturbance call Sunday morning that resulted in the death of the suspect.

Around 10:20 am officers responded to the call at US 36 and Thorton Road in Dekalb County. The officers then made contact with the white male suspect, who was armed and was ordered to drop the weapon. The suspect then pointed the weapon at the officers, who fired their weapons and shot and killed the suspect. The identity of the suspect is no being released at this time.

Troopers from the Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control, along with the Dekalb Sheriff's Department are continuing the investigation.
