(Creston) -- Honoring and remembering history is a big part of what KMA Sports strives to do.

On Saturday night, as part of a special reunion organized by the Creston administration, KMA Sports honored one of the great teams in KMAland history with their induction into our Hall of Fame. 

The 1996-97 Panther basketball team barnstormed through the Hawkeye Ten, losing just one game, and eventually went on to win the state championship in dominant fashion while averaging 81 points per game.

All but two members of that team and the entire coaching staff was on hand Saturday to salute this great champion during halftime of the Creston/Red Oak boy's basketball game. 

We also took the opportunity to induct the squad into the inaugural class of the KMA Sports Hall of Fame. After the presentation, coach Mike Gerleman talked about the honor, the team and much more in the video below.
