Cindy Alvarez

(Clarinda) -- Former Clarinda state champion golfer Cindy (Whitmore) Alvarez has officially joined the KMA Sports Hall of Fame.

The 1999 individual champion was honored during a short ceremony during the Lady Cardinal Relays in Clarinda on Tuesday evening.

Alvarez finished fourth in her freshman and sophomore years, won the state title as a junior and then finished as a runner-up in her senior year. She also led the 1999 Clarinda team to a team title and was runner-up in the state co-ed tournament with KMA Sports Hall of Famer Kyle Marcum.
