Kansas City Royals

(Kansas City) -- The Kansas City Royals have agreed to a minor-league deal with 2015 World Series Champion shortstop Alcides Escobar. 

Escobar played eight seasons with the Royals, where he hit .258/.293/.343 in 1,245 games. Escobar was a major part of the Royals success in 2014 and 2015 and was the 2015 American League Championship Series MVP. 

Escobar spent 2020 with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball League.
